Howard Award, Scripps Howard Foundation, for two 30-minute radio documentaries, entitled: "Las Vegas: Mississippi of the West or Promised Land?" in collaboration with KNPR-FM, Las Vegas. -1989 Award of Excellence, National Assn. of Black Journalists, for "Outstanding Coverage of the Black Condition" -1986 Sidney Hillman Foundation Award for "Vale of Tears: The Legacy of Silicon Valley," series of four half-hour public radio documentaries. -1982 Edward M. Hood Award for excellence in diplomatic correspondence, presented by National Press Club, Washington, D.C.
PERSONAL: I hold a private pilot’s license. I also hold an instrument rating, which I obtained on Feb. 21, 2006. I am a certified massage practitioner with a diploma from the Acupressure Institute of Berkeley, CA, with a special certification in emotional balance.
